forest-fire

the fire’s found the forest

a slow yet trodding search.

each leaf will be the kindling

until the wood is burnt.

but none impede the reaches,

or compulsions of the flame.

no thwart could e’re extinguish

the fulfillment of their aim

encircling this furnace

every woman, man, and child

no smoke surrounds the carnage

to tease the dazzled eye.

in glory, every tree ignites

In season’s forceful sparks.

i blush within the presence of

a blazed and burning heart.

the colors tell what’s coming,

a stripped and barren call.

and i can only stand and watch

the warm and wrecking fall.
