i can smell it.

its’ reach seeps through

the soles of my shoes.

shoes i shed.

holy ground.

green happens upon me;

it’s contagious.

careful, you just may

catch the beautiful

disease.

welcome it through

your nasal doors.

invite the air into your chest,

to mingle

with your own.


somewhere in this

breathing chapel,

the studs sway

to exhale.

forest breath.

my soul feels home.

for the seed

and my flesh

are brothers;

both dirt-born.

both miracles.
